Two handed would put my greatclub at 40 strength. I always deal over 1000 damage on backstabs no matter armor and on havels mom usually around 1200-1300. Normally i would have just looked at my damages but the hud was off. haarlem1982 6 years ago #6. I stand corrected about the 400 defense thing.
I usually do 2 backsteps to set up the R1 that turns into a running attack, for the sake of safety. Never for actual evasive maneuvers (since you need better timing than mine to not get stun locked) I'd really like to see some dark souls pvp tournaments that are held in a local area network, for practically 0 lag :D.

I'm still having fun playing, and I do get the occasional win. I get losing, but I'm learning from it and even tried adjusting my equipment to try new things while doing PvP. I had one where I bowed to the guy, he bowed back and as my character was getting back into formation, his phantom buddy was waiting to backstab me.
This video does not encourage backstab fishing. It just let you utilise these techniques in the right situation. The video also mentions how to counter backstabs which is always great. However, you can't counter if you don't know the actual techniques.
9E41vP. It happens to me and it happens to my opponents. Just now I positioned someone for a backstab, the animation started, and just as I was about to stab, I was suddenly petrified, and my opponent did the backstab animation from in front of me and I fell to the ground but took no damage.
Try paying attention to his backstabs to see how he moves around people and angles his character, and then try to emulate it. These things take lots of practice and failed attempts. •. watch project goof, he has tutorials on rolling bs and pivot bs, he is one of the best crit fishers in the game. there are also some vids from iamamish on

Don't block, and better yet don't hold any other buttons at the time you try to backstab. Also to riposte you have to parry first, this is done with the L2 button and a shield (you swing the shield a bit). If you do it at the right time (don't concentrate on their weapon, look at their hand position) you should see a parry animation and a sound
The best way to know f someone is doing it is if everytime they start going all over the place and backstab you or ou get hits out of nowhere and then it goes back to normal. Or when they kill ou and then they literally have no lag after that.
